Biological Assessments and Mixing Zone Studies

Biological assessments of aquatic and riparian communities are performed to evaluate aquatic life use classifications and to support standards development. Chemical information from surface water samples and vegetation assessments are primarily employed to assess use support determinations as reported in the State of Colorado's Biennial Status of Water Quality Report (CDPHE, 1993).

Mixing zone studies are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the mixing of effluent and surface receiving water under a variety of conditions to ensure compliance with water quality standards.

The SeaCrest Group currently works with several industrial clients providing biological assessments combined with mixing zone feasibility studies to attempt to bridge permit defined chemical thresholds, effluent impacts, and day-to-day activities to better the environment.
